The Salix Cricket Bat Company was established in 1990 with the aim of producing hand made cricket bats of an extremely high quality. Its founder and owner, Andrew Kember, trained with a well known maker until 1989 [Wisden article] then set up Salix as an independent bat manufacturing company, capable of producing exceptional, hand made bats and high specification protective equipment.
